Monica, just so you know, I’m a male. Haha. The name Casey has afforded me great shame but also great happiness. As a male, receiving letters from all female universities was a highlight of my life. Haha.

Best,

Casey

Casey,

So sorry! I changed it.

Now I have to internalize this new information…

One of the dumbest things I ever did was not sign up for jasonunger @ all the major email providers as soon as possible.

On the positive side, I did get my domain about 10 years ago, and every so often get an email from another Jason Unger saying hello.

Jason,

Awesome. I didn’t even think about email names. Though it does irritate me that my gmail account includes my middle initial because my name is too common.

Thanks for the comment!

FYI, there’s a new Web 2.0 site for writers and readers, http://www.redroom.com. Part of the goal is to make it easier for writers and readers to blog without having to worry about the back-end. It looks really cool, and Obama even just joined!

Interesting part about using your real name. I go as Crystal Kelly online, because my  real first name is androgynous and my real last name is impossible to pronounce ( and spell correctly). I don’t keep my real name very secret, and my chosen name just makes it easier. Everyone has been very understanding, and I’ve not had any troubles with my choice to use a penname so far, but neither am I very successful (yet).

Crystal,

I think it makes sense if you go by a pen name in your professional career to use the pen name. Just realize that if you do get famous, you’re not going to be able to switch back!

I changed my name (through marriage) because I had trouble my last name was hard to pronounce/spell too. So I completely understand changing your name – stars do it all the time :) .
